Director of Banteay Meanchey’s Cambodia-Japan Friendship Hospital Fired

Banteay Meanchey: The Director of the Cambodia-Japan Friendship Hospital in Banteay Meanchey’s Mongkol Borei, Chan Vithy Navuth, has been fired by Provincial Governor, Oum Reatrey. He has been replaced by Dr. Tu Barang.

Dr. Navuth was heavily criticised by the provincial governor at the weekend after apparently refusing to treat one of the Prime Minister’s bodyguards without first receiving payment. There was also not enough blood at the hospital, forcing the provincial governor to donate his own.

Director of the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Health Department, Dr. Le Chansangvat, says the provincial administration decided to appoint Dr. Tu Barang as hospital director unilaterally, given the circumstances.

After the weekend incident, Banteay Meanchey governor, Oum Reatrey took to Facebook to ask: “How should this kind of management be achieved for managers who are not ethical and do not know how to manage their work, and not for the first time, but many times?"

He added, “People often complain about the hospital services provided by Mr. Chan Vithy Navuth."
