Students Sit Second Day of Cambodia’s High School Exams; Officials Highlight Reforms

PHNOM PENH, (EAC News) — Aug. 29, 2025 — Students continued the second day of Cambodia’s secondary school diploma exams Friday, with tight security and parental support outside examination centers.

In Tbong Khmum province, a female candidate fainted during the exam and was treated by doctors with intravenous fluids. In Kandal province, two students felt unwell during the geography exam and rested in a hospital room after completing their work. Candidates with disabilities also took part, showing determination despite physical challenges.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Dr. Hang Chuon Naron highlighted the success of exam reforms since 2014, praising rising student performance and efforts to strengthen teachers and schools.

In Banteay Meanchey, Governor Om Ratay opened the exam box at Serey Sophon High School, wishing candidates success and emphasizing fairness and transparency. The province has 263 exam centers serving 6,552 students, up from 6,235 last year. In Takeo, Governor Vei Samang said 9,816 students, including 5,287 girls, are taking exams this year.
