PHNOM PENH, Aug. 20 — Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence on Wednesday facilitated a visit by the Interim Observer Team (IOT) to the area surrounding Preah Vihear Temple to assess conditions following a recent ceasefire agreement.
The team, made up of representatives from five countries, was led by Col. Nazlee bin Abdul Rahim, Malaysia’s defense attaché to Cambodia. Officials said the mission was aimed at observing, verifying and reporting on the current situation at the border.
The visit marks the latest effort to ensure transparency and maintain stability in the area after tensions in recent weeks.
