Cambodia and South Korea Foreign Ministers Strengthen Partnership

Phnom Penh: Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Prak Sokhonn, is in South Korea for a three-day visit to discuss bilateral cooperation and projects. The Minister was invited by his Korean counterpart, Chung Eui-Yong. A host of regional and international issues are being discussed such as politics, defense and economic development.

On Wednesday, the Minister will physically co-chair the 11th Mekong-Republic of Korea Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, which will be attended virtually by foreign ministers of the other Mekong countries, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar and Vietnam. They will review their progress and cooperation set out in their Action Plan for the next five years.

During Minister Sokhonn’s visit, updated strategies for global public health crises will also be tackled, in a joint commitment for battling Covid-19. The region’s post-pandemic recovery is expected to feature heavily in bilateral discussions.
