TOP NEWS: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet Nominates Donald Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

Phnom Penh, August 7, 2025 — Prime Minister Hun Manet of Cambodia has officially nominated former U.S. President Donald J. Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his instrumental role in fostering regional peace and stability. The announcement follows a social media post made by the Prime Minister and the submission of an official nomination letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

In his Facebook post, Hun Manet expressed gratitude for Trump’s diplomatic efforts, stating, “In accordance with the wishes of the Cambodian people both inside and outside of Cambodia, as well as to express our sincere appreciation for President Donald Trump’s initiative and support in contributing greatly to an immediate ceasefire between Cambodian and Thai forces. His continuous attention to its successful implementation until peace is fully achieved between the two countries is highly commendable."

The Prime Minister further explained that Trump’s diplomatic intervention was vital in preventing potential conflict and in restoring peace between Cambodia and Thailand. “I, as the Prime Minister of Cambodia, have submitted to the Norwegian Nobel Committee an official letter of nomination for President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize,” he added.

The official letter, dated August 7, 2025, formally recognizes Trump’s contributions to peace. In the letter, Hun Manet praises Trump’s “visionary and innovative diplomacy” which helped broker an immediate ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand — efforts that the Prime Minister describes as “crucial in preventing a potentially devastating conflict and paving the way toward regional stability.”

The letter further underscores Trump’s broader record of de-escalating tensions in volatile regions worldwide and his pursuit of peace aligned with the Nobel Committee’s legacy of honoring individuals who contribute significantly to international peace and reconciliation.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has yet to respond to the nomination. The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded annually to individuals or organizations demonstrating outstanding efforts to promote peace and resolve conflicts.
