Cambodian Defense Minister and Malaysian Armed Forces Chief Discussed Border Dispute and Ceasefire Implementation Yesterday

Phnom Penh, July 30, 2025 - General Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Cambodia, received a courtesy call yesterday from General TAN SRI HJ MOHD NIZAM BIN HJ JAFFAR, Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces. Discussions centered on the Cambodia-Thailand border dispute and the implementation of the recent ceasefire agreement reached in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

During the meeting, both leaders reaffirmed the importance of upholding the ceasefire and ensuring its effective implementation to de-escalate tensions along the border. The presence of General TAN SRI HJ MOHD NIZAM BIN HJ JAFFAR in Cambodia underscores Malaysia's commitment, in its capacity as the ASEAN Chair, to facilitate a peaceful resolution to the Cambodia-Thailand border issue.

The Cambodian Ministry of Defense expressed its hope that, under the coordination of Malaysia as host, the United States as co-organizer, and with the participation of Chinese Representatives, peace will be restored and sustained in the region. The meeting highlights ongoing diplomatic efforts to ensure the long-term stability and security of the Cambodia-Thailand border area.
