Techo Hun Sen: “In Times of National Crisis, We Have No Right to Rest or Fall Ill”

Phnom Penh – July 27, 2025 — Former Prime Minister and Senate President Hun Sen has issued a powerful message on social media, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the Cambodian people amid the ongoing border conflict with Thailand. In a post today, Techo Hun Sen emphasized the importance of resilience, urging both leaders and citizens to remain steadfast in these difficult times.

He stated, “In this situation where the nation and the people are suffering, we have no right to fall ill or take rest. We never abandon the people when they are in hardship.” His words serve as a rallying cry for unity and perseverance.

Having led Cambodia for nearly four decades before stepping down in 2023, Techo Hun Sen highlighted that his life and the lives of his fellow soldiers have always been guided by a fundamental belief — to dedicate their lives to the nation and serve the people, even at great personal sacrifice. “My whole life, like that of other soldiers, has always followed one belief—to dedicate life to the nation and ashes to the family,” he declared.

As Cambodia continues to confront escalating violence along its border, Techo Hun Sen’s message underscores a call for resilience and national solidarity. The government remains committed to de-escalation efforts, while international actors urge for restraint to prevent further suffering and instability.
