Thai Military of Escalating Attacks, Despite Cambodia Ceasefire Efforts

Phnom Penh, July 27, 2025 – The Cambodian Ministry of National Defense has accused the Thai military of continuing its assaults on Cambodian territory, even after reported efforts by U.S. President Donald Trump to broker a ceasefire.

At a press conference this morning, Maly Socheata, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, stated that the “Siamese invading army dropped two bombs on the road to the Cambodian temple of Preah Vihear.” She added that Thai forces also fired artillery, cluster bombs, and deployed drones into Cambodian territory.

Socheata stated that the Thai military's actions showed a "lack of fear of international law" and an expansion of the invasion of Cambodian territory, causing suffering to Cambodian civilians.

Specifically, the spokesperson alleged that the Thai invading army launched five drones to violate Cambodian territory in Koh Kong province, including three on Koh Yo, one on the west of Koh Yo, and one on Koh Kong Krao.

"The Thai military is continuing its assaults on Cambodia on July 27," Socheata said.

The accusations come despite claims by both Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and U.S. President Donald Trump that a ceasefire agreement had been reached between the two nations.
