Thai and Cambodian Leaders Sign Seven Key Agreements During Phatthongthan Shinawatra's Official Visit

Phnom Penh, Cambodia— Thai Prime Minister Phatthongthan Shinawatra arrived in Cambodia at approximately 10:00 a.m. on April 23, 2025. She was warmly welcomed by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet at the Peace Palace. The official visit, scheduled to last two days, represents a significant step in strengthening the relationship between the neighboring countries.

After a cordial reception, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and Prime Minister Hun Manet engaged in both closed-door discussions and a bilateral meeting focused on enhancing cooperation and addressing mutual interests.

During her visit, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, accompanied by her husband, is set to have a royal audience with His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni at the Royal Palace. She will also conduct a courtesy call on Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate.

The visit culminated in a signing ceremony co-chaired by Prime Minister Hun Manet and Prime Minister Shinawatra, during which seven important documents were signed. These agreements include:

1. Agreement on the Use of Labor between the Royal Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Royal Government of the Kingdom of Thailand.

2. Memorandum of Understanding between the Royal Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Royal Government of the Kingdom of Thailand on Cooperation in the Field of Labor.

3. Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Environment of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Kingdom of Thailand on Cooperation in Transboundary Environmental Protection.

4. Agreement on the Management, Maintenance, and Use of the Cambodia-Thai Friendship Bridge (Stung Bot-Ban Nong Ien).

5. Agreement on the Construction of the Phsar Prum-Ban Phakat Border Bridge.

6. Memorandum of Understanding on Providing Technical Assistance for a Feasibility Study on Upgrading National Road No. 57 (Battambang-Jangdvar) with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Cooperation Agency for the Development of Neighboring Countries of the Kingdom of Thailand.

7. Exchange of Letters on the Project to Strengthen the Capacity of the Cambodia-Thai Vocational Development Institute.

Additionally, Prime Minister Hun Manet presided over the inauguration of an emblem commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Thailand at the Peace Palace.

This visit reflects the ongoing commitment of both nations to enhance diplomatic ties and collaboration across various sectors, further solidifying the longstanding friendship between Cambodia and Thailand.
