Watch Live: Historic Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Wat Preah Ind Samak Dham – Inauguration of a New School Building and Significant Achievements, Presided Over by His Highness Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia

Kandal: This morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the President of the Senate of Cambodia and former Prime Minister, will preside over a ceremony to inaugurate a new school building along with other remarkable achievements at the Wat Preah Ind Samak Dham complex. This marks an important moment, as it is his first public appearance in over a year

Located in Trapaing Krop village, Kraing Makak commune, within Ang Snuol district of Kandal province, Wat Preah Ind Samak Dham is a temple of the Dhamma Yuthika Nikaya sect. Established under the guidance of the Ministry of Cults and Religion in August 2009, the temple has seen substantial development over the years.

The foundation for Wat Preah Ind Samak Dham was laid in December 2007 under the leadership of Samdech Preah Aphiserei Sukonthea Mohasangreacheathipadei Bou Kri, the Great Supreme Patriarch of the Dhammayuttika Nikaya. With contributions from Buddhist monks, local philanthropists, and dedicated community members, the temple complex has transformed into a vital center for education and spiritual growth.

Under the noble oversight of His Holiness Preah Mongkol Thepva Char Vong Aneta, Deputy Supreme Patriarch of the Dhamma Yuthika Nikaya, Wat Preah Ind Samak Dham now encompasses an impressive array of facilities. The total area has been expanded from the original 2,999 square meters to a remarkable 25,000 square meters. This includes several educational buildings, monks' residences, a dormitory, assembly halls, and much more.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Samdech Kittipritt Bandit Bun Rany Hun Sen have been instrumental in these developments. Their previous contributions include: In 2016, they inaugurated a three-story school building with 18 rooms and constructed a four-story monk's hut. In 2018, they supported the construction of a sacred hall, a four-story academic building, and a dormitory, along with necessary infrastructure improvements.

Most recently, in 2023, their contributions helped achieve the completion of a five-story academic building and an updated kitchen facility.

Today’s inauguration is highly anticipated and signifies a commitment to enhancing educational resources for the community. As the President of the Senate, Samdech Techo Hun Sen is expected to deliver a key speech emphasizing the importance of education and the role of the temple in fostering knowledge and spirituality.

As we prepare for Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s address, we will keep you informed with live updates throughout the ceremony. The atmosphere is charged with excitement as attendees await his speech.
