Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia and Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts Attends Opening Ceremony of 2025 "Happy Spring Festival" Garden Party
On January 11, 2024, the opening ceremony of the 2025 "Happy Spring Festival" Garden Party was held in Phnom Penh. Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin and Cambodian Minister of Culture and Arts PHOEURNG SACKONA attended and delivered speeches. the event featured traditional Chinese handicrafts displays, folklore performances, food exhibitions and other activities.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin said the event represents the vision of family reunion, symbolizes a farewell to the past and a greeting to the new one, and praying for good health, and contains the value pursuit of auspiciousness, harmony and happiness. In recent years, the Spring Festival has been respectively officially listed as a UN floating holiday and was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Cambodian friends also have the custom of celebrating the Spring Festival, including put up spring festival couplets, and dragon and lion dances celebrations everywhere. It can be said that the Spring Festival is a holiday for both Chinese and Cambodian peoples, and an important symbol of friendship between them.

She pointed out that Cambodia-China cultural exchange project and the 2025 Spring Festival New Year celebrations with the theme of "Happy Year of the Snake, Cambodia Celebrates Together" are new milestone to the deepening friendship and cultural ties between the peoples of Cambodia and China. The Year of the Snake symbolizes wisdom, flexibility and transformation in the Chinese lunar calendar. This event is not only a great celebration of Chinese culture, but also a reflection of cultural exchanges and mutual learning between the two countries. In this new year, the department will continue to work together in various fields and deepen the friendship and well-being of the two nations’ peoples.
On the occasion , she also said, China “Spring Festival” was inscribed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, she congratulated the Chinese government and all Chinese people for the success. She also thanked the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia for its continued support and coordination for various activities held in Cambodia and China, which enabled the two countries to successfully hold many events together.
