Phnom Penh, January 10, 2025 – Samdech Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, hosted a courtesy call and working discussions with Mr. Kato Katsunobu, Minister of Finance of Japan, at the Peace Palace on the morning of January 10.
During the meeting, Minister Kato praised the progress of the strong relations and cooperation between Japan and Cambodia, highlighting Cambodia as an important partner for Japan. He expressed optimism regarding the further development of the Cambodian economy and affirmed his commitment to enhancing and expanding Japan-Cambodia relations.
In response, Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed satisfaction with the advancements in Cambodia-Japan relations, which were upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership in early 2023. He thanked the Royal Government and people of Japan for their contributions and support to Cambodia throughout its journey toward peace, national reconstruction, and development across various sectors. The Prime Minister noted that Minister Kato’s visit will further strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
The Prime Minister and the Minister Kato also discussed ongoing efforts to promote collaboration in several potential areas, including economy, trade, health, infrastructure, finance, digital innovation, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), vocational training, people-to-people exchanges, and connections between the private sectors of both nations.
