Phnom Penh: Jeremy Zwinger, founder of the World Rice Conference, has expressed his support for Cambodia hosting the 2025 World Rice Conference. His endorsement came during a courtesy call and working discussion with Samdech Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, on the afternoon of January 8, 2025, at the Peace Palace.
During the meeting, Zwinger, who is also the President and CEO of The Rice Trader (TRT), praised the rapid development across various sectors in Cambodia, particularly in rice, logistics, and infrastructure. He conveyed an optimistic outlook on Cambodia’s potential in the rice industry.
Zwinger congratulated Cambodia for winning the World’s Best Rice Award in November 2024 in Manila, Philippines, and reaffirmed his support for the country’s role in hosting the upcoming World Rice Conference. He expressed enthusiasm for the past collaborations with Cambodia in the rice sector.
In response, Prime Minister Hun Manet thanked Zwinger for his support and emphasized the strategic importance of rice production for Cambodia's long-term agricultural goals. The Prime Minister also outlined the government’s policies aimed at enhancing rice production competitiveness, as well as the ongoing development of infrastructure and logistics to improve transportation efficiency and reduce costs.
