PM Hun Manet Pushes for Border Development, Announces Incentives for Investors

Phnom Penh, December 25, 2024 – Prime Minister Hun Manet has called on Cambodia’s private sector to expand investment in border regions, with a focus on agro-industrial development, during a meeting with representatives of the Cambodian Tycoon Association and the Cambodian Housing Developers Association at the Peace Palace.

The Prime Minister praised the associations for their contributions to the Border Infrastructure Fund, which has been pivotal in constructing the historic Border Ring Road. He highlighted the project’s importance not only as an infrastructure milestone but also as a critical element of national sovereignty, defense, and territorial integrity. The road, he added, has opened up the northeastern region, enabling economic growth and connecting Cambodians to remote border areas.

PM Hun Manet reaffirmed the Royal Government’s commitment to transforming border areas into thriving economic zones. He announced that new investment policies and incentive packages would be introduced in 2025 to encourage local companies to invest in these regions, with agro-industry identified as a key sector for sustainable growth.

“Border development is a cornerstone of our national strategy—it protects our sovereignty while creating opportunities for economic advancement,” PM Hun Manet emphasized.

He also commended the infrastructure teams for their dedication and perseverance in overcoming challenges, ensuring the successful implementation of the border projects.

The Prime Minister concluded by reiterating the government’s long-term vision of turning border regions into hubs of development and progress, securing benefits for future generations while safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity.
