Empowering Cambodian Youth: New Training Project for Car Painters and Technicians Launched

Phnom Penh – The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training has partnered with HONDA CARS HAKATA CO., LTD to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a new initiative titled “Training Project for Car Painters and Painters.” The agreement was formalized on December 24, 2024, during a ceremony chaired by Mr. Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, alongside Mr. Koshiro Muto, CEO of HONDA CARS HAKATA CO., LTD.

This four-year MoU aims to establish a robust framework for cooperation in training car painters that adheres to the high standards set by HONDA CARS HAKATA CO., LTD of Japan. The project is designed to ensure that students from the Industrial Technical Institute (ITI) receive quality and effective specialized training.

In his remarks, Mr. Heng Sour emphasized the transformative impact of this initiative, highlighting the opportunities it will create for Cambodian youth and women to acquire vital skills in the fields of car painting and spraying. He noted that participants will also gain valuable insights into the Japanese approach to excellence in organizational practices and work ethic. Furthermore, the collaboration offers companies in Japan access to a skilled, enthusiastic workforce capable of meeting industry demands.

The Minister also pointed out that this MoU significantly contributes to the promotion of 1.5 million Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs. This collaboration includes the development of training curricula, provision of necessary materials and equipment, and sending experienced experts in car painting and spraying to the ITI for hands-on training.

Through this partnership, the ITI will not only benefit from advanced training equipment but also from the establishment of a curriculum that aligns with Japan’s standards of excellence. Such efforts directly aim to enhance the skills of trainees, preparing them for successful careers in both domestic and international job markets.
