Drug Bust in Kampong Speu: Two Suspects Arrested in Prey Kuy Village

Kampong Speu Province – In a decisive crackdown on drug trafficking, authorities arrested two suspected drug dealers in Prey Kuy Village, Trapeang Kong Commune, Samrong Tong District, on December 23, 2024, at 3:50 PM. The operation followed a tip-off from a local citizen and was led by Mr. Ra Lysuon, Deputy Prosecutor of Kampong Speu Provincial Court, in coordination with Major General Khim Sokkhai, the Provincial Police Commissioner.

The arrested individuals have been identified as: 1. Bunrith Theara, a 26-year-old male with an unknown occupation, residing in Prey Kuy Village. And 2. Suon Sopheak, a 29-year-old male from the same village, who is already wanted under arrest warrant No. 509, issued on August 30, 2024, by Investigating Judge Mr. Pen Kamangka for illegal drug trafficking in the same commune.

During the operation, authorities seized five packages of white powder, suspected to be illegal drugs, along with one mobile phone. 

The suspects are currently being held at the Samrong Tong District Police Station, where they are undergoing questioning. The case is expected to be forwarded to the court for further legal proceedings. This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement in combating drug-related crimes in the region.
