Prime Minister Hun Manet and Lao Prime Minister Sonxay Siphandon Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

Phnom Penh: On the afternoon of December 4, 2024, Prime Minister Hun Manet of Cambodia presided over a signing ceremony for three important Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation with the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. 

The agreements signed during the ceremony included:

1. Agreement on the Elimination of Double Taxation: This agreement between the Royal Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic seeks to eliminate double taxation on income and prevent fiscal evasion and tax avoidance, facilitating smoother economic interactions between the two nations.

2. MoU on Agricultural Cooperation: An MoU was established between the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos to foster collaboration in the agricultural sector, aiming to strengthen agricultural practices and sustainability in both countries.

3. MoU on Cultural and Arts Cooperation: This agreement outlines cooperation in the fields of culture and the arts for the years 2025-2027, highlighting the importance of cultural exchanges and partnerships in enriching the mutual appreciation of each country's heritage.

During the event, Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized the importance of these agreements in further reinforcing the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and Laos. He expressed optimism about the potential for these collaborations to enhance economic, cultural, and diplomatic ties.

Prime Minister Sonxay Siphandon also expressed his gratitude to the Cambodian government and people for their warm hospitality. He acknowledged the traditional strong relations between the two nations and praised Cambodia's achievements in political stability and economic growth, which have positively impacted the living standards of its citizens.

The signing of these agreements marks a significant step toward deeper bilateral cooperation, with both leaders encouraging their respective ministries and institutions to continue fostering collaboration and facilitating exchanges across various sectors. This commitment reflects the shared vision of both nations to promote regional stability and mutual prosperity.
