BREAKING NEWS: King signs repealed law approving agreement on promoting and facilitating trade in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area

Phnom Penh: The King of Cambodia, His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, on Thursday, November 21, 2024, signed a Royal Code to repeal the law on approving and facilitating trade in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area, following a request from Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.

This law was repealed based the National Assembly approved it on November 8, 2024, during the 3rd session of the National Assembly, 7th term, and the Senate reviewed and commented on the form and content of this law on November 13, 2024, during the 2nd session of the Senate, 5th term, and the National Assembly approved it for the second time by open vote on November 20, 2024, during the 3rd session of the National Assembly, 7th term.

According to Royal Code No. 2411.1482, the Law on the Approval of the Agreement on the Promotion and Facilitation of Trade in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area, which was promulgated by Royal Code No. NS/RKM/0318/004 dated March 6, 2018, is repealed.

This law shall take effect from the date on which the withdrawal of the Kingdom of Cambodia becomes final, based on the Agreement on the Promotion and Facilitation of Trade in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area.

According to this Royal Code, the Royal Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia shall implement all necessary procedures and tasks to ensure the final withdrawal from the Agreement on the Promotion and Facilitation of Trade in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area. This law is promulgated with urgency.
