Senate of Cambodia Reviews Key Legislation in Plenary Meeting Led by Samdech Techo Hun Sen

November 13, 2024 – Phnom Penh: Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, chaired a plenary meeting of the Senate to review and comment on several significant draft laws.

The meeting included the first agenda item, which was a review of the *draft law concerning the approval of the cancellation of the Agreement on the Promotion and Facilitation of Trade in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle*. Senators discussed the implications of withdrawing from the agreement and its impact on regional trade relations.

The second agenda focused on the *draft law proposing Cambodia's participation in the Agreement on the Adoption of the United Nations Common Technical Regulations for Vehicles, Equipment, and Parts*. This agreement outlines standards for vehicles and equipment, with a focus on mutual recognition of conformity based on United Nations regulations.

The last agenda item reviewed was the *draft law on the Wastewater System*, which addresses wastewater management and treatment. The discussion highlighted the importance of regulating wastewater practices in relation to public health and environmental sustainability.

The plenary meeting allowed senators to deliberate on these legislative issues and assess their implications for Cambodia’s legal frameworks and policies.
