The Dutch Ambassador is Committed to Further Strengthening and Expanding Cooperation with Cambodia
PHNOM PENH: On the morning of November 12, 2024, Prime Minister Hun Manet of the Kingdom of Cambodia paid a courtesy call on HE Remco Johannes van Wijngaarden, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Cambodia, who is based in Bangkok. The meeting took place at the Peace Palace, where various topics of mutual interest were discussed.
During the meeting, Ambassador van Wijngaarden congratulated Prime Minister Hun Manet on his recent election and praised the development and economic growth in Cambodia. He expressed satisfaction with the longstanding relationship and progress of cooperation between the Netherlands and Cambodia, emphasizing his commitment to further strengthen and expand cooperation between the two countries.
In response, Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed gratitude for the excellent relations and cooperation between Cambodia and the Netherlands, thanking the Royal Government and Dutch people for their contributions to Cambodia's development in several important areas over the years. He encouraged the Ambassador to continue collaborating closely with Cambodian ministries and institutions to enhance the partnership.
Both the Prime Minister and the Ambassador noted the establishment of a bilateral consultation mechanism between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries, which supports the development of cooperation. They discussed ways to further strengthen and expand collaboration, particularly in trade and investment sectors.
Prime Minister Hun Manet shared Cambodia's attractive and practical policies, mechanisms, and incentives designed to attract foreign investors and enhance the investment climate along with the country's competitiveness. The Ambassador emphasized that Dutch private companies operating in Cambodia recognize the improved investment climate and that the Dutch government will continue to support these companies in their investments in Cambodia.
The two officials also exchanged views on a range of regional and international issues.
