Kampong Phluk Ecotourism Community: A Potential Eco-Tourism Destination in Siem Reap

Siem Reap, Cambodia – Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, held a get-together with the Kampong Phluk Ecotourism Community to assess its potential as a significant eco-tourism destination. The minister inspected the local infrastructure supporting tourism activities and evaluated the surrounding environment during the visit.

The meeting included discussions with the community president, the commune chief, and local residents, primarily women from the boat-dwelling population. The focus was on understanding the challenges they face and gathering suggestions to enhance the area’s appeal to both national and international tourists.

Kampong Phluk offers visitors a unique glimpse into the daily lives of the people along the Tonle Sap Lake. Tourists can explore stilt houses, navigate the flooded forest, and enjoy the vastness of Tonle Sap Lake. The area also features floating restaurants and fish farming, along with stunning sunset views on the lake.

The initiative to improve Kampong Phluk's tourism infrastructure aims to attract a greater number of visitors, thereby supporting local tourism and the community's economic growth.
