His Majesty King Charles III Extends Congratulations to King Norodom Sihamoni on Cambodia’s Independence Day

November 9, 2024—His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom extended warm congratulations to His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia, marking the 71st anniversary of Cambodia’s independence from France.

“On this special occasion of your Independence Day, my wife and I are delighted to convey our heartfelt congratulations to Your Majesty and the Cambodian people,” King Charles III expressed in his royal message. “I greatly value the bond between our nations and hope that we can continue to work closely on pressing global issues, whether related to peace and prosperity or environmental and climate challenges, which will benefit future generations.”

He concluded by sending best wishes for the upcoming year: “My wife and I would like to take this opportunity to send you and all Cambodians our warmest good wishes for the year ahead.”

Today, Cambodia commemorates its Independence Day, celebrating 71 years of sovereignty and marking the country’s liberation from French rule on November 9, 1953.
