Cambodia Earns $1.56 Billion from Rice Exports in First Ten Months of 2024

Phnom Penh, Cambodia — Cambodia has generated approximately $1.56 billion from its paddy and milled rice exports in the first ten months of 2024, according to a recent report by the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF).

From January through October, the Kingdom exported 507,029 tonnes of milled rice to 66 countries and territories, earning over $376 million. The report details Cambodia’s growing global footprint in the rice market, with Europe emerging as a significant buyer. A total of 254,945 tonnes of milled rice, valued at about $197 million, was purchased by 26 European countries, showcasing the region’s strong demand for Cambodian rice.

In Southeast Asia, seven ASEAN member countries imported 100,996 tonnes of Cambodian rice, contributing $66.61 million to the Kingdom’s earnings. China also maintained its role as a key market, importing 93,197 tonnes worth $61.48 million. Additionally, nearly 58,000 tonnes were shipped to other destinations worldwide, generating an income of $51.61 million.

The exports included a variety of rice types, such as fragrant rice, long-grain white rice, parboiled rice, and organic rice, catering to diverse consumer preferences across global markets.

The report also highlights Cambodia’s substantial paddy rice trade with neighboring countries, noting that approximately 4.03 million tonnes, valued at $1.184 billion, were traded across borders in the same period.

This robust export performance underscores Cambodia’s growing influence in the international rice market and its ongoing efforts to strengthen trade ties and enhance agricultural productivity.
