Cambodian Prime Minister Congratulates Donald J. Trump on Presidential Election Win

Phnom Penh, November 6, 2024 — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet extended his congratulations to U.S. President-elect Donald J. Trump, marking Trump’s return to office. In a formal letter, the Cambodian leader emphasized the significance of this election result for both the American people and the longstanding relationship between Cambodia and the United States.

Prime Minister Hun Manet hailed Trump’s victory as a “historic return,” calling it a testament to the American people’s confidence in his leadership. The letter expressed Cambodia’s hopes for strengthened ties under Trump’s administration, highlighting the role of U.S. leadership in promoting global stability, security, and prosperity.

“This great victory is a true testament to the trust and confidence that the American people have in your leadership,” Hun Manet wrote. “Under your wise leadership, I am confident that the indispensable U.S. role in promoting stability, security, and prosperity will be further strengthened.”

Hun Manet noted that Cambodia places great importance on its relationship with the United States, especially as the two countries approach the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic ties next year. He pledged Cambodia’s commitment to advancing ASEAN-U.S. relations and the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with Cambodia currently serving as the ASEAN-U.S. country coordinator.

The Prime Minister conveyed his optimism about working closely with the Trump administration, aiming to elevate bilateral ties and enhance cooperation in areas crucial to both nations. He assured that Cambodia would spare no effort in supporting initiatives that strengthen the ASEAN-U.S. relationship during its current role as coordinator.

Hun Manet concluded his letter by offering his “highest consideration and best wishes” to President-elect Trump as he prepares to assume office, underscoring Cambodia’s dedication to maintaining a strong partnership with the United States and contributing to stability and progress in the region.
