Ly Sameth Arrested After Admitting Guilt

Phnom Penh: On November 4, 2024, Ly Sameth, also known as “Kru mea,” was arrested amid allegations of corruption involving the misuse of the name of Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen. This arrest stemmed from claims that Sameth deceived individuals into giving him money by falsely asserting connections to the Senate President.

In a video released on the same day, Sameth acknowledged his wrongdoing, admitting that he had repeatedly used Samdech Techo's name to defraud people. He confessed that, despite having received opportunities for redemption from the Senate President, he continued his deceptive practices without remorse. The situation escalated as Samdech Techo publicly condemned Sameth’s actions, resulting in significant backlash against the fraudulent schemes he had perpetrated.

Additionally, Sameth admitted to falsely claiming that he could enter the Senate President's residence in Takhmao City at any time, a boast he now acknowledges was untrue. He conceded that he had never had a close relationship with Samdech Techo, further underscoring his pattern of deception.
