Phnom Penh, Cambodia – The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has announced that Cambodia is expected to experience continued rainfall, accompanied by thunder, lightning, and gusty winds, from November 4 to November 6, 2024. This weather pattern is primarily attributed to the northeast monsoon and a low-pressure system currently affecting the South China Sea, the Gulf of Thailand, and the lower reaches of the Mekong River Basin.
According to the ministry's announcement on November 4, the likelihood of rainfall will be particularly notable in various regions of the country. In lowland areas, the rainfall, along with associated thunder and gusty winds, is anticipated to cover up to 50% of the region. The highlands are expected to see rainfall affecting approximately 40% of the area, while coastal regions may experience rain coverage around 35%.
Additionally, the announcement indicated that wave heights along the coast are predicted to range between 0.50 meters and 1.2 meters, suggesting caution for maritime activities during this period.
Authorities urge residents to remain vigilant and prepared for adverse weather conditions, especially those living in areas prone to flooding and other weather-related challenges. The government emphasizes the importance of staying informed through official weather updates as the situation develops over the coming days.
