Bees Swarm Football Stadium in Bolivia

INTERNATIONAL: An astonishing moment has hit a football match in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. A swarm of bees descended on the stadium, interrupting proceedings for a full two hours. Players dropped to the ground when the swarm arrived. Regional teams Atletico Warnes and Pailon were playing the second half of their match when the bees started showing up. Local media say some players were stung but no serious injuries were reported. Pitch officials eventually used smoke to drive the bees away from the field.

Just last month, another Bolivian football match was disrupted, not by a swarm of bees, but by a dust devil. The players had barely lined up for their official match photo when the dust devil swept across the pitch. Proceedings resumed a few minutes later with no-one injured.
