Cambodian Judo Athletes Bring Home Five Medals from Thailand Competition

Phnom Penh, September 26, 2024 — Cambodian judo athletes made an impressive showing at the Thailand International Judo Championships 2024, securing five medals—two gold, one silver, and two bronze—during the competition held in Chonburi, Thailand, on September 21-22.

Cambodia’s Cheng Dalin and Guchkov Volodymyr led the medal count, each capturing gold in their respective categories. Cheng Dalin triumphed in the U63kg Women's Single event, while Guchkov Volodymyr clinched gold in the U60kg Men's Single division.

Kun Sreynich earned a silver medal in the U52kg Women's Single category, while Seng Kimly and Chhiev Chhorvin both took bronze. Seng Kimly competed in the 78kg Up-Women's Single event, and Chhiev Chhorvin secured his bronze in the U55kg Men's Single category.

The competition featured a variety of categories, including cadet, senior, and Kata events, drawing participants from across the region. Cambodia's medal haul is seen as a promising step forward for the nation's judo athletes on the international stage.
