National Assembly Approves Huot Hak as Minister of Tourism and Sok Soken as Minister of Inspection

Phnom Penh, September 20, 2024: In an extraordinary session held this morning, the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia approved the appointments of Huot Hak as the new Minister of Tourism and Sok Soken as the Minister of Inspection. This reshuffle was proposed by the Royal Government as part of the first phase of the Pentagon Strategy under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet.

During the session, Prime Minister Hun Manet addressed the National Assembly, stating, "As required by the first phase of the Pentagon Strategy in the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, I request the National Assembly to review and vote on the amendment of the Royal Government as listed below: His Excellency Huot Hak is proposed to be the Minister of Tourism, while His Excellency Sok Soken will be reassigned as the Minister of Inspection."

The National Assembly’s 106 members unanimously voted in favor of the reshuffle, granting full confidence to the appointments.

Huot Hak, the newly appointed Minister of Tourism, is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing Cambodia's tourism sector, which has been recovering since the global pandemic. Meanwhile, Sok Soken will lead the Ministry of Inspection, tasked with ensuring transparency and accountability within the government and public institutions.

The reshuffle marks another significant step in the Royal Government's efforts to implement its Pentagon Strategy, aimed at driving national development through reforms across various sectors.
