HEINEKEN Cambodia and Value Chain Partners Support Over 66k jobs across Kingdom

Phnom Penh, Cambodia, September 20, 2024 – HEINEKEN Cambodia employs over 700 people across the country while supporting a further 66,000 jobs nationwide, according to a socio-economic impact report that has been commissioned to study the company’s contribution to local society and the Cambodian economy as part of the brewer’s 30th anniversary.

The first published copy of the “HEINEKEN’s 2023 Socio-economic Contribution to the Kingdom of Cambodia” report was presented to Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet during a recent courtesy visit from a HEINEKEN delegation led by HEINEKEN’s Regional President for Asia Pacific, Mr Jacco van der Linden, to mark the brewer’s 30th anniversary. The study was conducted by impact measurement consultancy firm Steward Redqueen.

According to the report, in 2023 HEINEKEN Cambodia supported the employment of 0.7% of the nation’s workforce. Essentially, for each job at HEINEKEN Cambodia, 91 more jobs are generated for Cambodians throughout the beer value chain, from sourcing materials to getting the products to consumers. The majority of the jobs can be found among sales partners, including beverage outlets and agents. A substantial number of jobs are also linked to the company’s local suppliers and their networks. 75% of the company’s procurement is spent locally, strengthening domestic supply chains.
