PHNOM PENH, September 17, 2024 — Bilateral trade between Cambodia and Indonesia exceeded US$1 billion in 2023, marking a 15 percent increase compared to the previous year, according to Minister of Commerce Cham Nimul.
The figures were revealed during the opening ceremony of the two-day “Sousdey Indonesia” expo, held last week at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre. Cham Nimul expressed optimism that with creative initiatives like the "Sousdey Indonesia" expo and strengthened cooperation between the two governments, trade in 2024 would see even greater growth.
The Minister encouraged the private sector to organize more theme events in both Cambodia and Indonesia, as such initiatives provide valuable opportunities to explore untapped potential and establish new partnerships.
Cham Nimul also congratulated Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia, Santo Darmosumarto, and the Embassy of Indonesia for successfully organizing the "Sousdey Indonesia" event. She noted that this year marks the 15th anniversary of the event, which has been held in Phnom Penh since 2006, and coincides with the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Indonesia.
