Workers Propose Higher Wage Growth, Employers Suggest Modest Increase in 11th Minimum Wage Negotiation

PHNOM PENH, September 13, 2024 — The National Minimum Wage Council has resumed its tripartite discussions to determine the minimum wage for 2025 in the textile, garment, footwear, and travel goods sectors.

During the 11th negotiation meeting, workers' representatives proposed three wage increases of $6, $7, and $10, while employers recommended a more conservative $2 increase from the current wage of $204. Both sides presented their positions, with government representatives mediating the talks. The final tripartite meeting is scheduled for September 19, 2024, to finalize the minimum wage.
