Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Information has announced an initiative offering free travel to the Northeast of Cambodia, running every Saturday from September 7 until the end of 2024. This program aims to provide citizens with an opportunity to witness firsthand the development in the border areas, including the construction of the border ring infrastructure and the overall regional growth.

The Ministry confirmed that this initiative follows the directive of Prime Minister Hun Manet. All travel expenses, including transportation, food, drinks, and accommodation, will be provided at no cost to the participants.

The funding for this program has been generously sponsored by Prime Minister Hun Manet and his wife Dr. Pich Chanmony, and various philanthropists, ensuring that no state budget or border infrastructure funds are impacted.

The first tour to the Northeast will cover the border regions of Tbong Khmum, Kratie, and Mondulkiri provinces. To join the tour, the public must register in advance, with each trip accommodating up to 200 participants. Registration is available for individuals and groups, based on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Participants can register online by scanning the provided QR code.

The one-day tour will start at 4:00 am, departing to the specified provinces, and return at 4:00 pm. The exact meeting point will be communicated to registered participants. Prior to the trip, participants will be invited to attend a briefing by experts from the Secretariat of Border Affairs, who will provide detailed information about the tour and other related documents.

The Ministry of Information will ensure that participants are well-informed and prepared for this unique opportunity to explore the developmental progress in Cambodia’s Northeast.
