UPDATE: Meng Lyhor, Alias Yubee Ly, Sent to Phnom Penh Municipal Court for Legal Action

Phnom Penh: On the afternoon of August 22, 2024, the Criminal Police Department transferred Meng Lyhor, also known as Yubee Ly, to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for legal action following an intensive interrogation.

The suspect, a 24-year-old woman, was apprehended after she posted a video on a Facebook account under the name "Yubee Ly," in which she brandished a firearm with the provocative message, "You are angry, you can be my wife." This video drew significant concern, prompting swift action by law enforcement.

Under the directive of Mr. Lt. Gen. Neng Chuor, Director of the Criminal Police Department, the Light Criminal Bureau, led by Brigadier General Vuthy Vong Vibol, Lieutenant Colonel Vuth Se, and Lieutenant Colonel Ek Leng Bun Hour, launched an urgent search operation. The coordinated effort, which was carried out with precision and high priority, quickly located and arrested the suspect within an hour of the post.

Meng Lyhor was taken into custody and interrogated overnight at the Criminal Police Department on August 20, 2024. During preliminary questioning, she confessed that the video in question was originally recorded in 2022 but was recently reposted on a fake account using the alias "Yubee Ly."

Authorities also noted that the handgun featured in the video was linked to a prior case. The original owner of the firearm, who had provided it to Meng Lyhor, was previously arrested and sentenced by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for illegal possession of a firearm and drug-related offenses.

The Criminal Police Department expressed its gratitude to the public and the media for their cooperation in swiftly providing information that led to the successful apprehension of the suspect.
