Phnom Penh: Samdech Krala Hom Sar Kheng, Vice President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), has issued a firm statement addressing recent actions by opposition groups. These groups, allegedly backed by extremist factions abroad, have been accused of using social media platforms to incite unrest against the government. The incitement has come in the form of accusations related to Cambodia's territorial integrity, particularly within the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle.
Sar Kheng highlighted that these opposition elements have not only fabricated claims but have also manipulated audio and video content from past events, with the intent of spreading misinformation. He emphasized that such actions are aimed at undermining the internal unity of the CPP and sowing doubts among the public about his unwavering commitment to the party and the Royal Government of Cambodia.
According to Sar Kheng, this repetitive and hypocritical tactic has been employed by anti-government groups over the years in a bid to weaken the leadership of the Royal Government. He noted that these groups often seize on sensitive political issues, such as border disputes and human rights concerns, to create societal chaos and discredit the government’s leadership, which has been democratically elected.
Despite these challenges, Sar Kheng reaffirmed the CPP's political maturity and steadfastness in overcoming obstacles while maintaining unity within the party. He underscored his own dedication to the nation’s cause, having served alongside other dignitaries in the CPP for over 50 years.
In his statement, Sar Kheng also addressed recent developments regarding the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle and the Funan Techo Canal construction. He expressed his full support for these projects and reiterated his commitment to the CPP under the leadership of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, as well as to the Royal Government led by Samdech Moha Borvor Manet in the 7th legislature of the National Assembly.
In conclusion, Sar Kheng called on all members and supporters of the CPP, as well as the broader Cambodian public, to resist the provocations of extremist groups and to remain united in supporting the leadership of the Royal Government. He also advocated for the use of strict legal measures to safeguard national peace, stability, and sustainable development, which he described as the common aspirations of the Cambodian people.
