Cambodia and Cuba Forge New Paths in Inspection Cooperation

PHNOM PENH, August 16, 2024 — Cambodia's Minister of Inspection, Huot Hak, and Cuba's Ambassador to Cambodia, Milena Caridad Zaldivar Piedra, have come together to strengthen ties in the field of governmental inspection.

During their meeting on August 15, the officials emphasized the critical role of inspection services in promoting good governance and transparency within public administration. Both parties agreed to establish formal relations and cooperative ventures between their respective national inspection institutions.

They also discussed drafting a memorandum of understanding to formalize their inspection cooperation. Technical working groups from both nations have been tasked with conducting detailed discussions to move this initiative forward.

In addition to formal agreements, the meeting also touched on the possibility of organizing reciprocal visits and sharing experiences between the Cambodian Ministry of Inspection and its Cuban counterpart to foster deeper understanding and improve inspection practices.

Furthermore, both officials celebrated the enduring relationship between Cambodia and Cuba, acknowledging decades of fruitful collaboration across various sectors such as health, education, agriculture, and trade since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1960.
