Cambodia’s Rubber Export Reaches US$270 Million in First Seven Months of 2024

Phnom Penh, August 13, 2024 — Cambodia exported 173,915 tonnes of rubber latex in the first seven months of 2024, reflecting a 1.72 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to a report from the General Directorate of Rubber at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries.

The export of rubber during this period generated approximately US$270 million, marking an 18.12 percent year-on-year increase in revenue. Cambodia primarily exports its rubber to markets in Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, and China.

The report also highlighted that Cambodia has planted rubber trees across a total area of 407,172 hectares, with 320,184 hectares, or around 79 percent, currently mature enough for tapping.

In response to the growing rubber industry, Prime Minister Hun Manet has urged domestic tire factories to utilize locally produced rubber as raw material. This initiative aims to create a stable market for Cambodian rubber farmers, fostering the growth of the country's rubber industry.

The Cambodian tire manufacturing sector has seen significant expansion, with three major companies—General Tires Technology (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., Sailun Group Co., Ltd., and Qingdao Doublestar Group—establishing a strong presence in the market.
