PM Proud of Opening The Monford University in Cambodia

Phnom Penh: The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Samdech Hun Manet, has expressed immense pride and satisfaction over the establishment of The Monford University, a prestigious institution from the United Kingdom, which has chosen Cambodia as its strategic investment hub for Southeast Asia.

On behalf of the Royal Government, Prime Minister Hun Manet extended his deepest appreciation to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Embassy of the United Kingdom, and the University Management Committee for their relentless efforts culminating in today’s official inauguration. This significant milestone follows the endorsement by the former Prime Minister Hun Sen, reflecting a continued commitment to elevating higher education standards in Cambodia.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of The Monford University this morning, Prime Minister Hun Manet, a distinguished alumnus of the United Kingdom, shared his enthusiasm and personal connection to this venture. He highlighted four key aspects of the university's establishment in Cambodia:

First: the presence of The Monford University underscores the recognition of Cambodia's educational quality and the capability of its students to engage and compete on an international level. The university's decision to establish a branch in Cambodia signifies a recognition of the country's commitment to education at all levels, from primary to tertiary education.

Second: the establishment of the university reflects confidence in Cambodia’s political stability, economic growth, and future potential. The significant investment required for such an institution, particularly in both soft and hard infrastructure, necessitates careful evaluation. The decision to invest in Cambodia highlights strong confidence in the nation’s investment climate and market potential.

Third: the presence of The Monford University is anticipated to stimulate competition in the higher education sector in Cambodia, offering a broader range of educational opportunities for Cambodian students. The university's local presence will help mitigate brain drain by providing quality education and creating job opportunities within Cambodia.

Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized that the establishment of The Monford University would not only enhance the educational landscape but also contribute to the overall development of Cambodia. The university's commitment to internationalization and the promotion of high-quality education aligns with the Royal Government’s ongoing efforts to advance the education sector and support the country's development goals.

This strategic investment by The Monford University signifies a robust partnership between Cambodia and the United Kingdom, fostering educational excellence and mutual growth.
