Senate President Hun Sen Extends Condolences to Families of Fallen Pilots

Phnom Penh: Senate President Hun Sen has expressed his deep sorrow and extended condolences to the families of Lieutenant Colonel Kheng Chhay Yuth and Lieutenant Colonel Sun Phalla, the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) pilots who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash on Friday, July 12, 2024, in Thmor Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province.

In a heartfelt letter to Ms. Chhem Kalyan and Ms. Khan Chanthul, and their families, Senate President Hun Sen conveyed his and his wife's profound shock and sadness upon hearing the news of the pilots' deaths. He recognized the significant loss not only to the families but also to the nation, as both pilots were dedicated servicemen committed to their duties.

"On this sad occasion, my wife and I would like to extend our condolences and express our deepest sympathies to both of them, as well as to the families who have lost their faithful husbands and fathers. The nation also mourns the loss of brave pilots who sacrificed everything with a strong conscience in the cause of serving the nation, religion, the King, and defending the territorial integrity forever," he wrote.

Senate President Hun Sen further offered prayers for the souls of the deceased pilots, wishing them peace in the afterlife and strength for their grieving families.

"In this sad time, my wife and I would like to dedicate our prayers to the souls of Lieutenant Colonel Kheng Chhay Yuth and Lieutenant Colonel Sun Phalla, hoping they find peace in the afterlife. Please, Ms. Chhem Kalyan, and Ms. Khan Chanthul, as well as your families, accept the heartfelt condolences of my wife and me," he added.

The letter highlights the profound impact of the loss on both personal and national levels, honoring the dedication and sacrifice of the fallen pilots.
