Cambodia Declines to Host World Cup Kabaddi

PHNOM PENH, July 25, 2024 — The Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports, in coordination with the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), has officially declined an invitation to host the World Cup Kabaddi.

This decision was formalized through a correspondence dated July 22, penned by the Ministry's Secretary of State and NOCC Secretary General, Vath Chamroeun. The letter was in response to an invitation from Mr. S.T. Arsu, Secretary General of the World Cup Kabaddi, issued on July 16.

The letter explicitly states that the Royal Government of Cambodia does not sanction the organization of the event. A key factor in the decision is the absence of an officially recognized national federation for Kabaddi in Cambodia, rendering any preparations for hosting the sport as non-compliant with the legal framework.
