
Senate President Hun Sen Demands Prosecution for Fabrication of Cambodian Land Transfer to Vietnam
Phnom Penh: In a decisive message on the afternoon of July 23, 2024, Senate President Hun Sen announced the arrest of three individuals from Siem Reap province for fabricating claims that Cambodia has ceded land to Vietnam. Senate President Hun Sen emphasized that these individuals must face prosecution without any consideration for leniency or pardon.
The Senate President underscored the seriousness of spreading fake information about Cambodia's territorial integrity, calling for robust action against such fabrications. He declared, "As long as I am alive, any insurgency must not happen in Cambodia," highlighting his commitment to maintaining national stability.
Senate President Hun Sen also revealed plans for the Royal Government to construct a road to the tri-border area connecting Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, aiming to establish a border crossing to enhance trade and transportation among the three countries. This initiative reflects his dedication to fostering regional cooperation and development.
Additionally, Senate President Hun Sen addressed accusations regarding the establishment of the Triangle Development Cooperation (CLV), refuting claims that it would compromise Cambodia's sovereignty. He described such assertions as inexcusable and called for the legal prosecution of those responsible for these misrepresentations, explicitly stating that their names should not be included in any lists for commutation or pardon.
