PHNOM PENH, July 19, 2024 — Cambodia is gearing up to host the 10th ASEAN Plus Three Junior Science Odyssey (APT JSO-10) from July 22 to 26 in Siem Reap province, the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI) announced today.

The event will bring together 225 junior high school students from the 10 ASEAN member states as well as China, Japan, and South Korea. Under the theme "Racing Up Against Climate Change," participants will engage in activities focused on scientific discovery and innovation, aiming to develop urgent environmental solutions.

This year's APT JSO is organized by MISTI in collaboration with the ASEAN+3 Centre for the Gifted in Science (ACGS), an institution committed to fostering scientific talents across the region. Established in 2012, the APT JSO seeks to inspire talented secondary school students from ASEAN Plus Three countries to explore science and technology fields further. The event not only stimulates intellectual curiosity but also encourages students to consider future careers in these critical areas.

Participants will have the opportunity to connect with peers, forming friendships and professional networks that span across the ASEAN Plus Three region. This networking aspect is considered a key benefit of the program, promoting cross-cultural collaboration and understanding among young scientific minds.
