Cambodia’s GTF Exports Earn US$6.2 Billion in First Half of 2024

Phnom Penh, 17 July 2024: Cambodia exported garments, footwear, and travel goods (GFTs) worth US$6,246 million in the first half of 2024, reflecting a 16.5 percent increase from US$5,360 million in the same period last year, according to a report from the Ministry of Commerce.

Garment exports were valued at US$4,569 million from January to June this year, marking an 18.4 percent rise from US$3,858.5 million over the same period in 2023.

Footwear exports totaled US$774 million, an increase of 10.4 percent from US$700.6 million, while travel goods reached US$903 million, up 12.7 percent from US$801 million, the report indicated.

The GFT industry is the largest foreign exchange earner for Cambodia. The sector comprises approximately 1,538 factories and branches, employing around 913,000 workers, the majority of whom are female, according to the latest report from the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training.
