Dr. Sar Sokha: Revision of New Road Traffic Law to Align with Cambodia's Development and Minimize Accidents

Phnom Penh, 17 July 2024: Dr. Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, announced that the revision of the new draft law on road traffic aims to align with Cambodia's current development and reduce road traffic accidents to a minimum. This effort is part of Cambodia's commitment to the UN Global Road Safety Plan, which seeks to reduce road traffic deaths and injuries by 50% by 2030.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the new draft law was discussed in a meeting chaired by Dr. Sar Sokha, who also serves as the Chairman of the National Committee for Road Safety. The meeting was attended by Peng Po, Minister of Public Works and Transport and Permanent Deputy Chairman of the National Committee for Road Safety, along with other leaders and relevant officials.

Dr. Sar Sokha emphasized that the revision of the road traffic law is crucial for ensuring the safety of Cambodia's roads and adapting to the country's ongoing progress. The updated legislation will incorporate measures to enhance road safety and prevent accidents, contributing to the overall well-being of the Cambodian population.
