Minister of Health Meets with Health Professions Committees to Enhance Service Quality and Safety

Phnom Penh, 16 July 2024: Professor Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, held a second meeting with the five health professional committees, comprising doctors, dentists, midwives, nurses, and pharmacists. The event took place at the Ministry of Health and was also conducted via Zoom, with the participation of 907 leaders and health advisors, along with officials from the five health professional committees.

The meeting aimed to review key points from the first meeting and assess current efforts to improve the management of health professionals, particularly the implementation of professional ethics.

Professor Chheang Ra welcomed and encouraged all health professionals to strengthen cooperation, emphasizing the importance of adhering to current laws and regulations, training, and ethical practice. He highlighted the need for accuracy, both in technical and soft skills.

The minister stressed the importance of training, education, and the dissemination of information to prevent professional misconduct, respect client rights, and maintain high standards in administration. He emphasized that providing quality and safe services, in line with pedagogical and ethical standards, should always be a priority for health professionals.

Professor Chheang Ra also outlined the joint role of the Health Professions Committees and the core duties of each professional committee. He urged them to prepare comprehensive implementation plans and regularly monitor and evaluate their progress to achieve their priorities.

The health professional committees expressed their satisfaction with the meeting, appreciating the minister's valuable advice for further improvement and development of their work.

Professor Chheang Ra commended the Health Professions Committees for their past efforts and reaffirmed the Ministry's support for their work, expressing hope for positive outcomes in delivering better services to the public.
