Cambodia, Vietnam Enhance Information Exchange on Border Security

Phnom Penh, July 15, 2024 – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sar Sokha, and Lieutenant General Loeung Tam Quang, Minister of Police of Vietnam, praised the strong relationship between the law enforcement forces of Cambodia and Vietnam. They emphasized the importance of their cooperation, particularly in exchanging information on border security and addressing issues that arise along the border. This collaboration significantly contributes to maintaining security, stability, and social order, thereby supporting the economic development of both nations. These points were discussed during a bilateral meeting at the Ministry of Interior on the afternoon of July 13, 2024.

Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha congratulated Lieutenant General Loeung Tam Quang on his recent appointment as Minister of Police of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on June 6, 2024. This appointment reflects the trust and confidence that the people, the party, and the government of Vietnam have in his efforts and dedication to the nation and its citizens.

Furthermore, Sar Sokha conveyed the greetings and congratulations from Samdech Krala Hom Sar Kheng, the King's Personal Adviser, to Lieutenant General Loeung Tam Quang on his new role as Minister of Police.

During the meeting, both parties also celebrated the successful working meeting between Prime Minister Hun Manet and President To Lam of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. President To Lam's state visit to Phnom Penh from July 12-13, 2024, was seen as a milestone in further strengthening the ties between the two nations.

Both sides expressed their optimism that the longstanding good relations and cooperation between the two countries, especially among their top leaders, will continue to develop further, benefiting the people of Cambodia and Vietnam.
