Cambodian and Thai Parliaments Sign MoU to Strengthen Cooperation

BANGKOK, July 11, 2024 – During her official visit to Thailand, National Assembly President Khuon Sudary of Cambodia and her Thai counterpart, Mr. Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, signed and witness two significant memoranda of understanding aimed at enhancing parliamentary collaboration.

The first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focuses on fostering active and comprehensive friendship through parliamentary diplomacy. Both National Assemblies commit to mutual support, sharing best practices, and exchanging relevant resources in areas beneficial to both nations. This cooperation is expected to promote peace, prosperity, and progress within the parliamentary frameworks of both countries and in regional and international forums.

The MoU outlines a structured exchange program across four levels: leadership, committee, parliamentary friendship groups, and senior officials. It also includes plans for special initiatives such as seminars, cultural events, and virtual meetings, with activities initiated through mutual agreement.

Additionally, a second MoU was signed by the Secretaries-General of both National Assemblies. This agreement supports the overarching goals of parliamentary collaboration and includes provisions for delegation exchanges and discussions on topics such as public participation and good practices.

The signing of these memoranda represents a significant outcome of President Khuon Sudary's high-level delegation visit to Thailand from July 11 to 12, 2024, further solidifying the ties between the two nations.
