Young Chinese Journalists Visit Cambodia to Foster Media Cooperation and Cultural Exchange

Phnom Penh, July 11, 2024 – A delegation of young journalists from the International Relations Center of Guangxi Radio and Television of China visited Cambodia from July 8 to 13, 2024.

During their stay, a delegation of 29 young journalists, accompanied by students from Chungcheng Chinese School, paid a courtesy call on Kem Kunavath, Secretary of State, representative of Minister of Information Neth Pheaktra, to learn about the population change and development of Cambodian-Chinese people, particularly the development of the information sector in Cambodia under the Ministry of Information.

The meeting, held on the morning of July 10, 2024, at Chaktomuk Mongkul Hall, Ministry of Information, was an opportunity for Kem Kunavath to welcome the delegation. He emphasized the importance of learning about media work and fostering good cooperation between Cambodian and Chinese media. This interaction aimed to promote people-to-people relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Kunavath expressed his pleasure in meeting the young journalists, describing them as the future generation of Chinese media professionals. He highlighted the significance of their visit in understanding the living standards, progress, and realities of Cambodia, reinforcing the enduring friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and China.

The head of the Chinese delegation informed Kem Kunavath that 2024 marks the year of people-to-people exchanges between Cambodia and China. This initiative, led by the International Relations Center of Guangxi Radio and Television Station, aims to strengthen youth connections between the two nations. The delegation's six-day visit includes trips to the Royal Palace, National Museum, Independence Monument, Wat Phnom, the Royal University of Phnom Penh, and the Angkor World Heritage Site in Siem Reap.

Through this visit, the delegation aims to gain insights into Cambodia's rich tourism resources and its recent developments, understanding the traditions and lifestyles of the Cambodian people. The delegation also attended the Cambodia-China Friendship Event with Cambodian youth, organized by the National Television of Cambodia.

To widely publicize this event, Guangxi Radio and Television plans to document the entire visit and produce a documentary for audiences in both countries. The delegation hopes to receive strong support from the Ministry of Information for their videotaping and other activities in Cambodia.
