Phnom Penh, July 10, 2024 – The Ministry of Cults and Religious Affairs and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) have discussed further measures to promote the prevention of violence against children.
The discussion took place between Chay Borin, Minister of Cults and Religious Affairs, and Dr. Will Parks, UNICEF Representative to Cambodia, during their meeting in Phnom Penh on July 8.
Dr. Will Parks highlighted UNICEF's contributions to Cambodia's social work, focusing mainly on child rights promotion guided by the Cambodia-UNICEF cooperation framework 2024-2028.
The UNICEF representative suggested that the ministry consider including the prevention of violence against children in the education curriculum and establishing a national day of prayer for children in the official calendar.
Chay Borin responded that the ministry would gather all necessary inputs to push forward the requests for consideration and decision-making by the Royal Government.
He thanked UNICEF and emphasized that the ministry welcomes all national and international organizations and associations contributing to Cambodia's development.
