Progress of National Road 48 Quality Improvement Project (Sre Ambel - Koh Kong)

Phnom Penh: As of early July 2024, the project to upgrade National Road No. 48, spanning 148 kilometers from the intersection of National Road No. 4 to Khemarak Phoumin City in Koh Kong Province, has reached 62.11% completion. The construction team is currently focused on asphalt concrete (AC) ironing, Base Course work, and various structural tasks. The aim is to complete the AC ironing by the dry season of 2025.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, has requested understanding and patience from the public, particularly travelers and residents living along the construction zones. The project has caused some sections of the road to become muddy and difficult to navigate, particularly during the rainy season. Notably, the slopes at Tapon (km 140+300 to km 140+700) and the area around the three antenna poles (km 137 to km 140) are especially challenging.

The construction team is actively working to mitigate these issues, ensuring the temporary resolution of problems to facilitate movement and minimize the risk of accidents due to slippery conditions.
